Happy New Year!
I hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful holiday season and are feeling upbeat as we begin 2023.
2022 was quite the year. With record levels of inflation leading to changes in shopper behaviour, there was a lot for us to learn.
But what insight can we take into 2023?
Check out our report: 10 lessons from 2022… and what they mean for 2023
3 trends to watch out for in 2023
1. Energy Saving Solutions 💡
Rising energy costs will continue to impact us all and many of us will look for creative ways to keep our bills affordable. 52% of UK consumers say they are interested in solutions that will help them save energy.
Brands should highlight how storing or preparing certain food and drink requires less energy. As air fryers and microwaves use less energy than ovens, they are tools that food brands can utilise.
2. Personalisation 🪪
When it comes to looking after their health and well-being, people are looking for solutions tailored to their individual needs. For example, 34% of UK skincare users say they are interested in using ‘formulas personalised to their needs’.
This surge in interest is aided by the development of genetic sequencing, as well as improvements in diagnostics and wearable technology.
Brands tapping into the health or well-being space need to consider how to give consumers personalised products or advice.
3. Managing Stress 🧘♀️
We are all feeling the effects of the pandemic, growing cost of living, energy crisis, geopolitical upheaval, and climate emergencies.
All of this, on top of our personal struggles, leaves many of us feeling exhausted and stressed.
There is an opportunity for brands to help consumers manage their stress. 71% of us look to diet and exercise, while 62% say daily rituals are essential in lifting our mood.
Which of these trends can you tap into with your brand?
Let's hope that as 2023 progresses, we will have more reasons to celebrate.
